Day One of Blogging
Hello friends! Welcome to the SFLC blog. In the upcoming weeks you will find new posts highlighting our fantastic volunteers, fabulous students, and our upcoming events.
SFLC is a free after-school tutoring and mentoring program for children in the Rock Island-Milan School District. We host children at three campuses including Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church, Rock Island, First Presbyterian Church, Milan, and Frances Willard Elementary, Rock Island. With the help of our caring volunteer tutors we are able to serve 120 children in grades 1-6 from 5 elementary schools; Eugene Field, Frances Willard, Ridgewood, Rock Island Center for Math and Science, and Thomas Jefferson. All students are referred to our program by their classroom teacher for extra assistance in reading, writing, and mathematics.
Please look for us on facebook (http://www.facebook.com/#!/profile.php?id=100002915304666) and soon on twitter!
Cheers,
Katie Colbrese
